The Benefits of Buying a Tcl 55inch 1080p 120hz Led Hd

The TCL R646 is impressive for watching movies in dark rooms. It has an outstanding contrast ratio to display deep blacks, and the Mini LED local dimming feature is decent, but it doesn't improve the picture quality that much. It removes 24p judder from any source, and it displays 1080p and 4k content well, so it's great for watching Blu-rays and Ultra HD Blu-rays. However, it can't properly display 480p content, so it's not a good choice for watching DVDs.

The TCL R646 is great to use as a PC monitor. It has a low input lag for a responsive desktop experience, and it has a quick response time, but you may notice some motion blur. Glare shouldn't be an issue in well-lit rooms because it gets bright enough to combat glare and has excellent reflection handling. It displays proper chroma 4:4:4 with 1080p and 4k signals at 60Hz, but not any other signal. It also has narrow viewing angles, so the image looks inaccurate from the side.

The TCL R646 supports any resolution up to 4k @ 120Hz, as long as you set the HDMI Mode to 'HDMI 2.1' to reach the full bandwidth. It displays proper chroma 4:4:4 with 1080p and 4k signals at 60Hz, but it can't do it with any other signal. It accepts a 4k @ 120Hz signal in 10 or 12-bit color depth with chroma 4:4:4, but it doesn't properly display chroma 4:4:4 because text looks a bit fuzzier than what we would expect.

The TCL S546 is very good for watching movies in dark rooms. It has a VA panel with a high native contrast ratio for deep blacks and excellent black uniformity. It has a full-array local dimming feature that isn't bad, but it causes blooming around bright objects and seems to raise the black levels. This TV doesn't have trouble displaying 1080p or 4k content, but it has problems properly upscaling 480p content, so it's not a good choice for watching DVDs.

The TCL 5 Series is very good to use as a PC monitor. It has low input lag for a responsive desktop experience, and motion looks good thanks to the quick response time. It displays chroma 4:4:4 with 1080p and 4k signals, which is important for reading text. However, our unit has gray uniformity issues noticeable with web pages or documents and has narrow viewing angles, meaning the image looks inaccurate at the edges if you sit too close.

The TCL 5 Series 2021 displays most common signals up to 60Hz, including 1440p if you create a custom resolution through your PC. It displays chroma 4:4:4 in either 'PC' or 'Game' Picture Mode with 1080p and 4k signals, and text looks a bit sharper in PC Mode.

The three models all offer a 120Hz edge-lit LED LCD display with a 1080p resolution and three HDMI ports with MHL. The 55-inch set includes built-in Wi-Fi and Smart TV with Netflix, YouTube, and Yahoo Apps.

Also known as Ultra High Definition (UHD), the consumer version of 4K is a resolution measuring 3,840x2,160 pixels and is yet to be established in either a broadcast or disc-based format. One of the main advantages so far is that the technology has the potential to show passive 3D better than 1080p sets, although the 50-inch TCL 7E504D doesn't have 3D.

It looks great from a distance, up close and personal, and in between -- watching it, consuming media, or playing games on it. Whether you're playing back 1080p movies or games, or even into the world of 4K 120FPS on the next-gen consoles or PC, the TCL 55C835 TV has it all -- and it looks great doing it.

They include 40-, 46- and 55-inch 1080p models, priced at $399, $499 and $799, respectively. The largest one includes built-in WiFi with Smart TV features including Netflix, YouTube and Yahoo Apps, and all go on sale in August. So far, reviews of the Seiki UHDTVs have suggested resolution isn't everything even at these prices (and especially at this screen size) -- we'll be waiting to see if TCL's scaling, contrast, motion processing and other qualities can match up with the big guys. %Gallery-194657%
